best lens for Nikon D3100

At the time I post information that is no less important for the Nikon mania. To obtain a good picture and has the maximum quality, would have to be supported with a good lens too. For that here I will give 5 list the best lens for Nikon D3100.

List of the best lenses we provide an information from a variety of sources. It is intended that you no longer choose the wrong lens for the Nikon D3100 you. However the best lens for the Nikon D3100, is not a guarantee that the best for you. Because it is based on your individual needs.

1. Nikon 55-200mm IF AF-S DX VR
This lens is sharp even at wide apertures, the VR (image stabilization) works great, autofocus speed is more than acceptable, and it it is very light and compact. The fact that it costs $250 and has effective VR is pretty amazing - no other company offers a lens with this feature for anywhere near this price.

As for image quality, search the various internet photo sites, such as dpreview and nikonians for sample photos taken with this lens by real users. The results are impressive! My copy produces similar results. The previous reviewer must have a bad sample. READ MORE

2. Nikon 55-300mm ED DX
This lens is fantastic - especially for $399. My first concern was whether it not it had a plastic or metal mount since some DX lenses in this price range have plastic. I even contacted Nikon and they couldn't (or wouldn't) tell me. Well, I was really pleased to see that it does have a metal mount. It has a nice solid feel to it. The zoom movement is smooth and I haven't had any problem with lens creep when I'm aiming it downward. Even when I point the camera downward and shake it, it won't creep.

I'm just beginning to get into testing it but my preliminary pictures are coming out nice - really nice. The sharpness is amazing and the lens produces a very nice bokeh. I posted the image of the dragonfly with the chicken wire background (see the customer uploads) Check out the detail in the wings. That shot says it all. It was HAND HELD and cranked all the way out to 300mm. The original image is great but a lot of the detail was lost with the upload to Amazon. But - none the less - it's still pretty sharp. The auto focus on this lens is fast, smooth, quiet and very accurate. It locked right in on the subject. It was set on aperture priority at f/8 1/500sec for the shot that I posted here (shot with a D-90)..READ MORE

3. Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX
With a compact, lightweight design, the AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G provides the high reproduction capability and picture quality for which Nikkor lenses are renowned at an affordable price. The ring type SWM offers quiet AF operation. Although all lens groups shift during focusing, the front element and filter mount do not rotate and the barrel length does not change, which is useful when using filter mounted SB-R200 Wireless Remote Speedlight units.

The AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G optical design allows a different look and feel to images taken with zoom lenses, and its dimensions are ideal for discrete snapshots and landscape shooting with a picture angle that approximates that of the human eye. With its rounded seven-blade diaphragm opening, out-of-focus elements appear more natural. When mounted on a DX-format SLR, the picture angle is the 35mm equivalent focal length of 50mm. ...READ MORE

4. Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 VC
I had the first version of this lens which I like very much -- and much to surprise, this much smaller, much lighter, but higher quality lens from Tamron is even better!....The photos are sharp across the entire focal range (better than the Nikon 18-200) with a much better focal range.

It is significantly smaller than the original, and the new motor is fast. Most surprising, it even focuses faster in lower light situations. The new internal motor clearly works well.

This can pretty much stay on your camera all the time. It's great for walk-around; it's light an non-intrusive; and the shots are sharp and clear. I love this lens...READ MORE

5. JUDUL
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens, incorporating Sigma's original Optical Stabilizer function, covers focal lengths from 70mm to 200mm and offers a constant aperture of F2.8 over the entire zoom range. The OS function offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. It makes shooting easy for many types of photography such as portraits and sports.

Two FLD ("F" Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite glass, and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction of color aberration. Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting. The lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), ensuring a quiet and high speed AF as well as full-time manual focus capability. It is also possible to attach Sigma's optional APO Tele Converters...READ MORE

Nikon D3100 VS Nikon D5100

Nikon d3100 VS Nikon 5100

Deciding on your first Digital SLR or adding a new camera to your collection can be overwhelming when you start considering the many options available. I have been a long fan of Nikon cameras and have gotten superb photographs with their Digital SLR cameras. In this article I am comparing the Nikon D3100 to the D5100. The question you have to ask is whether or not the Nikon D5100 Price is worth the upgrade from the Nikon D3100. Lets take a look at these two superb cameras and see what they have to offer.

As you look at the different digital SLR cameras, from entry level to enthusiast and professional, the cameras obviously increase in price and in sophistication. Typically the autofocus and exposure metering systems improve. The higher-end cameras also shoot faster, have more settings that can be controlled by the photographer and give higher resolution.

Image quality and Sensor quality are two important considerations that any level of photographer will notice in their images. The Nikon D5100 has 16.2 megapixels 23.6 x 15.6mm sensor. This is the same sensor that is featured on Nikon's outstanding DSLR the D7000. The D3100 is equipped with 14.2 megapixels 23.1 x 15.4mm sensor. The increase in resolution gives sharper images and allows for better editing in programs such as Photoshop. You will have the ability to crop and enlarge prints and still maintain a superb image with high resolution for printing or for display. The better sensor in the D5100 gives better performance at higher ISO settings and in low light situations. You will see lower digital noise, an improved dynamic range, better tonal ranges and superb color sensitivity. It might be fair to say the higher megapixels and better sensor justifies the Nikon D5100 price alone.

Another consideration to look at when comparing the Nikon D5100 to the D3100 is the shooting speed and its Autofocus (AF). The D3100 shoots 3 frames per second (fps) in continuous mode while the D5100 shoots 4 fps. Higher shooting speeds mean capturing fast moving objects in situations like sports or wildlife shots. The fast shooting speed and good AF system allows for capturing great action shots. Both cameras have 11 AF points, which will probably be more than enough for most users. If you are a professional and specialize in sports or wildlife photography or action shots, you will want a camera that is more sophisticated and has a customizable AF system. When purchasing either a D3100 or D5100 you should know that neither of them have an autofocusing motor built into the body so you will need to have a lens with built-in AF motors. This shouldn't be an issue with the newer lenses available.

The Nikon D5100 is equipped with several extras not found on the D3100. One is the 3" Vari-angle LCD. This is especially nice when trying to capture those tricky shots. The D5100 also has HDR (High Dynamic Range) that helps give exceptional detail in the highlights and shadows of your image. There are also several scene modes and in-camera special effects that the D5100 offers. The D5100 is also equipped with a Full HD video mode, which appeals to many videographers.

Another consideration is the size and weight of these two cameras. The D3100 is slightly smaller and lighter than the D5100. This is something that should be considered as traveling light as possible is an issue for some people.

When looking at all the options and functions of these two cameras, the Nikon D5100 out performs the Nikon D3100. The important question you must ask your self, is the Nikon D5100 price jump (about $200) worth it? If you are looking to buy your first DSLR or invest in a back-up camera, the investment in the D5100 is well worth it. If you already own the Nikon D3100 and do not need a back-up camera, you might want to sit tight. The D3100 is capable of delivering superb images. Good luck and have fun capturing life's memories!

Nikon D5100 Digital SLR Camera Review

Nikon D5100 Review
Nikon D3100 Best Buy - With Canon releasing its EOS 500D DSLR camera, Nikon Corporation is proud to announce the release of its new D5100 entry-level Digital SLR camera. This newly released product is an enhanced version of the Nikon D5000 DSLR camera. There are several new significant enhancements included in this new DSLR camera including 14-MP Nikon sensor, D5000-like camera framework and camera controls but with a D3100 sensor, and EN-EL14 Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery. When Nikon D5000 was launched a few months ago, it was meant to be the successor to the Nikon D60 DSLR camera that employed the latest trends of modern DSLR cameras featuring 720p - 24 fps HD movie and live viewing. Nikon D5000 and its enhanced version, Nikon D5100, are more favored than D60, not only because of the added HD movie capability and live-view features that they have, but also because Nikon has made significant improvements to their features and specifications, which are not found in D60, such as special imaging effect capability and enhanced sensor resolution and autofocus system. Furthermore, the official price of both Nikon D5000 and D5100, which in the market is valued at around $800, is practically affordable for entry-level DSLR camera users.

The aforementioned three significant enhancements which are included on the Nikon D5100 are not the only factors that make it surpass the Nikon D5000. In this new enhanced version, Nikon has also added special effect enhancement capabilities. The Nikon D5100, with its special effect enhancement capability, helps photographers maximize their image taking and producing creativity without having to use additional graphic processing applications on their computer to reprocess the image that they have taken. One of those special effects that can be considered quite interesting is the Selective Color effect. By using this effect, the photographers can choose up to three colors that are desired to appear in the image and convert the remainder of the colors in the image to grayscale.

Other special-effect enhancements that may be favored by photographers include a graphical capability to produce colorful sketch drawings from still images or stop-motion movie and miniature effects that can be used to produce images and videos with mini-scaled nuances. The Nikon D5100 also includes a night vision capability which enables photographers to take a still image or shoot a video in an environment in which very little reliable light is present. In general, the Nikon D5100 shows superb imaging capability even with the maximum ISO level of 25,600, equivalent to that of Nikon Pro SLR, which enables photographers to take photos at an ISO level of 102,400. With all enhancements and quality performance features that are included in this camera, the Nikon D5100 is the best choice for camera lovers who want an affordable, high-quality and versatile personal DSLR camera.
